I WON!

1 Dec

I am super, super, uber excited.

Why?

I WON NANOWRIMO!

In other words, I met my word count goal.

True, I changed my goal from 50k to 20k. But I wrote 20,o00 words in a month! 20,001 if you ask the NaNo website, 20,070 if you ask our version of Microsoft Word.

I am incredibly proud of myself. Not only did I survive, but I actually wrote 20,000 words that (hopefully) someday will be good enough for people to actually read!

As is, it needs editing. I realize this.

But that can’t stop my optimism for long.

In case you’re wondering, no, I didn’t finish my novel. Far from it. I barely started Part Two. But I did meet my goal. And that’s pretty awesome too!

This is definitely the most planning and work I have EVER put into a story. Or, like, anything else.

In any case, I can now tell people that I won NaNoWriMo.

This has been a crazy month. I can’t wait to rest a bit. And keep writing. And editing. Hmm.

10k at Long Last!!!

13 Nov

Well, this is pretty self-explanatory based off of the title. Ah, well.

I finally have 10,000 words!!!

I am quite proud of myself :)

That means I have 40,000 more words to do in the next 17 days or so.

That’s about (according to the NaNoWriMo website stats) 2,353 words a day.

Think I can do it?

I think I just might be able to pull this off!

(Yes, this is short. I want to get back to writing. But I had to update my blog about this momentous occasion!!!)

A Celebratory Post (As Well as More Procrastination!)

10 Nov
 Hello, my faithful blog readers!

I have big news!

1. I now have 6 followers!

and…

2. Today, I beat my record for most views. 27 views of my blog today!

Yes! I consider both of these big accomplishments. If you look at my archives, you will see that I have only had my blog since August. So really, this is huge to me :) I remember how excited I was to get my first follower. Well, now I have 6!

(I know. These numbers really don’t sound that big, for those of you who get, like, 5 million views a day and have like 30 followers. But guess what? It means that I’m starting to have a name in the blogging community! I’m quite proud of myself.)

So thanks a ton, you guys. I love you all :)

Also, my NaNoWriMo novel is coming along okay. Although I am currently procrastinating on it by writing a celebratory blog post. Also, I am more behind than I realized that I was. I still need 9,587 words to reach today’s goal.

But, I’m not as frustrated right now. I overcame my writer’s block a bit. Now I just need to overcome my horrible procrastination habits.

Insanity

9 Nov

I. Am. Going. To. Die. End of story. [little sister in background cheers enthusiastically]

My brain is…not functioning properly right now. I seriously think that NaNoWriMo might kill me.

Okay, not really. That’s really morbid. But I have…brace yourselves! Ready???

6,528 words.

How many am I supposed to have at this point?

13,336 words.

Mmhmm. Not kidding. That is a difference of, what?

6,808 words.

(And no. I am not one of those geniuses who can do math like that in their head. I used a calculator.)

Yeah. That is more than my entire word count right now. Needless to say, I’m behind.

So what do I do about it? Write a frustrated blog entry. Uh-huh.

Maybe when I start this next chapter (Chapter 6, if you were wondering), I will be able to get back into it again. I mean, I have an hour left to write tonight. I might be able to manage another 1,000 words or so.

My cat (sorry, random…) just curled up on my lap. With the laptop. She looks quite comfortable. And she is on my arm. She (her name is Smoky, and she is gray. Just in case you were wondering) does not look like she’s interested in moving any time soon. So I may be writing with a cat on me for a while. Hmm.

I had no idea that NaNoWriMo would be this exhausting and challenging! Yeah, I knew it wouldn’t be just a walk in the park, but this is a little harder than I was expecting. I also wasn’t expecting the high level of insanity it has brought me to.

I told one of my friends that I was afraid I’d die during NaNo, and his response was: “I sincerely doubt you’ll die. Although there is a very high chance of going crazier-than-you-already-are. I know. It’s happened to many of my friends. And yet, they’re still alive, writing happily.”

Ha. That is so true. I already was crazy. This has brought me to a new level. Which is hard to do. I’m afraid to see where I’ll be at mentally by December.

Well, how’s that for another frustrated blurb?

P.S. Sorry, nothing witty today. I honestly cannot think.

Pro.Cras.Ti.Na.Tion!

8 Nov

pro·cras·ti·na·tion

  [proh-kras-tuh-ney-shuhn]

noun the act or habit of procrastinating, or putting off or delaying, especially something requiring immediate attention: She was smart, but her constant procrastination led her to be late with almost every assignment.

What better example of this word can I give than my taking time off writing my novel to look up the definition of procrastination, so that I can write a blog entry about it? Yes, I am a horrible procrastinator. Thus, I am not novelling right now.

Why, you ask?

Isn’t it obvious?

Writer’s block. Again.

I hate it.

A lot.

Writer’s block seems to hit every author at some point. But really, procrastinating doesn’t help much. It makes it worse. So. Here I am. Procrastinating. Cutting myself off from my novel and characters when I should be working feverishly on it since I’m so behind -_-

That’s all, I guess. Random frustration blurb for you.

Over and out,

<3 Paperclip101
